Gooru has developed an extensive taxonomy model to provide a framework for organizing all standards. The taxonomy model organizes standards into a 5-level a hierarchy. The hierarchy is Subject -> Course -> Domain -> Standard -> Micro-standards / Learning Targets.
The taxonomy model is defined for different categories such as K-12, Higher Education and Professional Development.
Gooru supports multiple standards frameworks and at each framework the subject, course, domain and standard codes may vary. This is managed by mapping specific external values into internal ids. The taxonomy navigation APIs are, hence, structured as tree navigation APIs requiring progressive context inputs to list values at next levels.
